Why organized religion Sucks!!

Easter is the time when we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. I dig that. It is the base of my faith. Where I have a problem is that the first person to tell the story is always portrayed as either a whore or an adulterer. Mary Magdalene is probably the most slighted person in history.

It all starts in the book of Luke. A woman who is a sinner washes the feet of Jesus with her hair. A couple lines later, Mary Magdalene enters the story. Pope Gregory later determined that she was the sinner. She has been slighted ever since.

The big disconnect comes in the 60's when the Vatican decreed that there was no proof that she was the whore. The only problem is that when the church splintered, starting with Luther's Reformation, The Vatican no longer spoke for all of Christianity. So most protestant churches still describe Mary as the sinner. (Most Roman Catholics still call her a whore regardless of the Papal decree.)

What is my point? The truth has been hidden from us. The discovery of the gnostic gospels in the 1940's (the Gospels of Timothy, Mary, etc.) illustrate the Mary was the most beloved of all the apostles. After the death of Christ, there was a power struggle between Peter and Mary. Mary lost. Ever since then Mary Magdalene has been vilified. The Bible itself is one of the most anti-woman books ever written.

When the church decided it was time to make ONE Bible, the gnostic gospels where considered heresy. Why? Because they showed women on equal footing as men. The gnostic gospels speak about celebrating your faith everywhere (Timothy mostly.) The Bible as it is today is a tool used for churches to make money.

Being brought up in the church (not raised, there is a difference), I saw the ugly side of Christianity. Everything is about filling those collection trays and "tithing". I believe that if JC came back today......he would be pissed!

What the fuck is your problem?

To all you who blasted me here and on Pete Townshend's blog,
Who are you to judge me? You don't know me. You don't know my situation. Just because I didn't got to Pete's site tell him how great he is (and he is), you people think you have license to judge me.

Let me tell you a few things;
First off, I don't have the money to keep driving a hundred miles each way to Tampa. I'm glad you do.
Secondly, when Pete came to my site it meant more to me than you can ever imagine. I have idolized him since I was 10 years old. He didn't have to post anything, or even give credence to my post on his site, but he did. Once again shattering any preconceived notions I had about rock stars.
Thirdly; Saying that I am not a "TRUE" Who fan is ridiculous.

I'm glad all of you have nothing better to to than rip on me. I'm a nothing, a nobody. All I did was voice my frustration at the situation and you all went ape-shit about it. What does that say about you folks? Think about it.

Once again a big thank you to Pete. Roger and you saved my life as a kid and I will always hold you guys in high regard. You didn't have to apologize but, you did. For that I am very grateful. Once again I know it was just bad timing.

Less than 24 hours later....

Pete Townshend has restored my faith. Yeah, I know I bitched about it. Pete took the time to respond to my blog and now I'm no longer disappointed (well a little for getting a refund on those tickets). For Pete to take the time to post on my little blog means a lot to me. Anyone who knows me, also is well aware of my affection for The Who. As a teen I drove my sister and my friends nuts by playing Quadrophenia over and over and over....

For some reason Pete has always been my favorite song writer. When I got married, we found an organist who could mix "Let My Love Open the Door" with Bach for our exit from the ceremony. (for those of you who don't know, the song is about God and his love, not "hey baby come back to my place")

In other words, I love this band! Don't get me wrong, I not a Who-Trekkie. Those people people have to live their lives how the see fit. What I have learned from the band is that it is okay to be who you are.

Once again, even if Pete never shows up here again, Thanks for everything Pete! And I do mean everything!

The night Pete let me down.

I don't take many vacations. So when Mrs. ronnie and I went to see the Who in Tampa, we thought we had finally been able to take a vacation. I was wrong. Roger Daltrey had bronchitis and the show was cancelled. They re-scheduled the show for March 25th. So after I had shelled out money for the show, hotel, gas, and food, I have nothing to show for it. I got my money back from Ticketmaster, but that doesn't help. I would have had more respect for them if they had made an annoucement earlier the Roger was ill. For fans in Tampa it's not a big deal. I don't live there so I am pissed. Even if Pete had gone on solo, I would not be disappointed.

Moral of the story: Don't pay to see aging baby-boomers in concert, they get sick too easy.

DW27

On Monday morning, a Bronco died. Darrent Williams was not one of my favorite players. He was, however a decent human being. He worked hard and I respect that. His dream was to open a Football camp for underpriviledged kids, free of charge.

Bayliss and Suzie need your HELP!!!

I know I've been gone for a while. So, here we go.

Last month when I was visiting my staff in Chester PA, we did some volunteer work for a group called City Team Ministries. They do some great things like a soup kitchen, provide clothes for homeless people, etc. The coolest thing however, is helping provide toys and dinners for under-privileged inner-city kids at Christmas.

They just found out on Thursday that their major toy provider has backed out on them. They need help, BADLY!!!

Bayliss and Suzie want you to help!!

We all know what it is like to have a tough Christmas, most of these kids go through this every year. So regardless of your feelings about me, Please donate at www.cityteam.org/philadelphia/ and click on the Holiday of Hope banner.
