Coming Home

Wow!! You go away for the weekend and so much happens. Colin Powell is the man!!! By breaking ranks with W he started a HUG shit storm. The Chicken Hawks W, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Limp-baugh (can't let that go with out a viagra joke)et al, want to change the standard interpretation of the Geneva convention to include the torture of prisoners. Those in the GOP that actually have fought in a war (and there are not many) have stated over and over again that torture does not work in interrogations. When Colin Powell disagreed with W this time, he might have finally drove W over the edge. Their relationship was shaky to begin with. Powell only served under W as a favor to his dad. Powell quit the administration when he realized that he had been conned into lying to the UN over WMDs The blood is in the water folks!!!! The Democrats are just sitting back and watching this feud. And they should. Let the GOP destroy itself. Watching the administration scurry over the weekend was great. W showed his true colors when came out as bitter man during a press conference.

The reason why I was gone was for my sister's birthday. It was a covert op that only a few knew about. My nieces and nephew had no clue either. I was hidden away at my uncle's place for three days. Normally, sitting infront of the TV watching college foot ball all weekend would be a dream come true. I found out that it's better if my girls (Bayliss and Suz of the Booze Cruise, my dogs) are watching it with me. We finally got up to the house and I was attacked by the young ones, although they seemed disappointed Mrs. Ronnie wasn't there, I think they were happy to see me. All the hours being stashed away was worth the expression on my sister's face when she saw her baby brother. I do regret however that I was not able to stay longer.

I finally got a chance to meet MAMA BEAR. What a cool lady. And I found out that Imbecillin was actually someone I already knew. It was good to see her again as well.

While I do love my sister and was able to connect more with my uncle (I finally found out where my mean streak comes from) the best part of the trip was coming home. First when I saw Mrs. Ronnie at OIA, and then getting mugged by the mutts when I got home. Bayliss at her advance age tried to jump up and Suzie did. Those two would not leave me alone for three hours. Even now Suzie is sleeping on the floor at my feet (Bayliss is in the bedroom protecting her mom).

So overall a good weekend. I surprised my sis, Denver won (barely) and the fighting ferrets of Notra Dition got their ass beat and dropped from number 2 to 12!! W keeps getting bad news. And I also came home to my wonderful wife and the two mutts.

9-11 anniversary

At first I was not going to write about it. I remember that day clearer than most. I watched with horror as a place that holds very special meaning to me was destroyed. I went to college in East Orange NJ. The view from my dorm room was that of the twin towers. I used to hop on the PATH train on many a Saturday after a football game, alone, and go to the top of those towers. New York was a different city up there. Quiet. I could go there and clear my mind and collect my thoughts.

My frat brothers, all from blue collar families, being the first to go to college worked in that area after college. None of them were lost that day, but that didn't stop me from thinking about them constantly in the days to follow as we awaited word about their safety.

My thoughts were about how this happened, and how we would react. When the attacks came in '93, our response was immediate. Despite what the so-called docu-drama said, we lobbed cruise missiles at the camps. Clinton with all his faults, knew who was to blame.

In 2001, Bush sat and waited 7 minutes before he did anything. In those seven minutes we could have had fighters stop the attack on the Pentagon, but we didn't and more lives were lost. People ask me why I despise W and my answer is always the same: Because he waited. Because Donald Rumsfeld ran into the situation room at the Pentagon and was asking for a reason to attack Iraq. Because we waited months before we went into Afghanistan. Because the NSA warned Bush in August that this would happen and he did nothing. And because he conned millions of Americans into believing that Iraq was involved.

Now the Democrats are not without blame. They fell for it hook, line, and sinker. When Kerry had Bush admit that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 during the first debate and did not run that sound bite constantly for the next 2 months.

The war in Afghanistan I will always support. Saddam Hussein was neutralized, he was no threat, but we pulled our troops out of the real terror war, and dumped them into a civil war. I can never forgive W for killing our troops when it was not needed.

Things are getting clearer to the American public. A lady who works for me that supported W now has come over to our side. Polls are showing that we will have a shot of retaking the house and senate later this year.

I still cannot forget that day 5 years ago and how I sat in stunned silence as both towers fell. The feeling I had when my wife's dad, a retired DC fireman, told us how many memorial services in NY he played the bagpipes in. That day was an opportunity for W to become what he said he was, "A uniter, not a divider."

Did he succeed?

Guitars part 2

I have an interesting week. Month end at work is always stressful and waiting to hear if you get a promotion makes it more so. A friend of ours, Kymm broke up with her boyfriend, not that this is earth shattering news, but it brings me to certain conclusion: If you dated someone in the past and they treat you like shit, they will do it again.

Now, I never liked this guy, as a matter of fact I wanted to beat this shit out of him on more than one occasion, he did something this time that was utterly despicable. He bought Kymm a guitar a few months back, then we she dumped him he demanded it back. Kymm did this and be came very depressed. Be ing a lover of the guitar and knowing it doesn't take long to be attached to one, I felt very bad. So today Mrs. Ronnie and I took her to Guitar Center to help her find a new love in her life. After going through the store for about 2 hours Kymm decided on the Ibanez Artcore hollowbody. The very same guitar I have been toying with the idea of getting. While she was choosing that axe I was playing all the others on my wish list. I played the Gibson ES 335 and the Epi Casino, then we came back to our place and I played the Ibanez. After all of this I realized one thing....I can do all the same things on those guitars on my Fender Stratocaster. So my decision right now is to keep on with what I got and wait for another time for the others.

Kymm on the other hand found a new love and possibly a new way to let her inner punk rock chick out. I'm not sure but I think she might going back on her own very soon to get new strings put on her new purchase.......she was swooning at the the guitar repair guy in the back of the store.

So even when things seem hopeless, new possibilities are always around the corner. Except in Iraq. Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the two journalists that converted to Islam are from Fox?????? And Rumsfeld, You are an asshole!!!

CU Later

This is my favorite time of year. FOOTBALL SEASON!! Just a few observations from today's action. First off; Colorado lost to Montana State. Let me explain why this is so funny. CU has always been a top football school. They usually book a cake school to play in their first game, this year's victim: Montana State Division IAA. This means that they are a big school, but not very good. The beat Colorado today. As a former collegiate player and due to the fact that my sister and I grew up (part of the time anyway) in the same county as CU making me a fan, I find this simply funny. CU has been under investigation by the NCAA since the early 90's. S once they have a huge scandal they usually fire their coach and say they will still put a competitive team on the field. NICE JOB!!! I was going to take the day after thanksgiving off this year to watch the CU/Nebraska game. I think I'll work late that day.

On to the Team I HATE the most in college football; The drunken' err Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The NCAA has been trying to find a way to make this team relevant for years. They started today by making bad call against GA Tech with a bogus personal foul call in the third quarter. Keep watching this year and you will see more and more bogus calls against teams playing the Fighting Ferrets!!!

Finally, Bill Maher had a great show last night on HBO. I'm glad because the first show sucked ass and was taken over by an efeminent English puff from Vanity Fair. (No, it wasn't Phil)
